Dr Heba Sharawy graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University and holds a PhD in Environmental Economics. She is a specialist in International Environmental Agreements and Sustainable Development. She has held numerous positions throughout her career, beginning as Director of the Department of Environmental Agreements, International Organizations, and Environmental Policies.  She has been responsible for the Environmental Economics portfolio at the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, encompassing the Green and Blue Economy, and served as a member of the Blue Economy Committee within the Egyptian Cabinet. Currently, she serves as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment for Coastal, Lake, and Port Affairs, and is the focal point for environmental agreements related to the marine environment, including the Barcelona Convention and the Jeddah Convention.
