Kata Tüttő is the President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), championing the role of cities and regions in shaping Europe’s future. A Hungarian politician and economist with over two decades of experience in local government, she places water resilience at the heart of her mandate. As the CoR rapporteur on European water resilience strategy, she calls for an overhaul of European water policy to confront water scarcity, flood risks, and pollution arguing that water is not only a natural resource but a pillar of regional development, cohesion, and economic stability.
As councillor and previously deputy mayor of Budapest, she led work on climate adaptation, water and waste management, public transport, and utilities, and she chairs the supervisory boards of Budapest’s public water and sewage companies. A long-standing climate advocate, she has chaired the CoR Commission on energy, environment and climate (ENVE), authored key opinions on the European Green Deal, climate and gender equality, and represented the CoR at several UN COP on climate. She also serves in the PES Presidency and on the board of the Progressive Alliance.
