Dr Alicia Bugeja Said is Malta’s Junior Minister for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights within the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Animal Rights. Born in 1987 in Mġarr, she holds a PhD from the University of Kent and has conducted postdoctoral research in Canada and France. In 2020, she was appointed Director of Fisheries, and in 2022, she was elected to Parliament. As Junior Minister, she advocates for sustainable marine practices and animal welfare, emphasizing collaboration between fishers, scientists, and conservationists.
