Irene Mikelis is an European project manager and policy expert specializing in implementation of EU-funded programmes and island-sensitive development strategies. She has led and implemented more than 30 large-scale projects across a multitude of sectors in various countries. Currently working for INSULEUR—the Network of Insular Chambers of Commerce of the EU – her focus is on ensuring island territories are not sidelined in the EU’s green and circular transition, in line with Article 174 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which mandates special attention to regions with permanent natural disadvantages.
