Dr Samia MOUALFI was appointed Minister of Environment of the Algerian Republic on July 2021. She was previously Registered Lawyer at the Supreme Court and at the Council of State, she is member of the International Union of Lawyers, and PhD in law with option in international law and international relations and is an expert in human rights.

During her term as a member of the Algerian Parliament from 2002 to 2007, she sat on the Legal Commission and was Vice President of the Parliamentary Group of the FLN Party in charge of the external relations. Party in which she repeatedly held several positions of responsibility including member of the Political Bureau from 2019 to 2020.

Dr Samia MOUALFI is a voluntary member of associations active in the domain of human rights. She is also a trainer of trainers in the fields of participatory democracy and elections. In 2004, she submitted to the Algerian National Assembly a draft amendment to the electoral law with the aim of increasing the representativeness of women in elected assemblies.
