worked as the deputy permanent representative of Egypt to UNEP and UN-Habitat headquarters in Nairobi for 4 years (Dec 2010-Jan 2015). Sherif negotiated several decisions and declarations on matters related to environment, sustainable development and human settelments.

In February 2015, Joined the department of Environment and Sustainable development at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 15th regular session and 6th special session of the African Ministers Conference on Environment (AMCEN) held in Cairo and presided by the Egyptian Minister of Envionment.

participated in the preparations to CoP21 of the UNFCCC in Paris including the preparation of Egypt's Submission of the Intended Nationaly-Determined Contributions (INDCs), as well as the african delebrations that lead to the Launch of the African Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) and the African Adaptation Initiative (AAI). During CoP21, He participated in the negotiations that lead to the adoption of the "Paris Agreement".

In 2017, seconded to the secretariat of UNEP, working on issues related to environmental negotiations, and issues related to the environment in the middle east and the arab region.

Seconded to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development as trhe deputy head of the sustainable development unit.

In December 2015, got Masters degree in Sustainable Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. he also has two certificates in International Environmental Law.
