Iyad Kayali is one of the leading experts and trainers in sustainable tourism in the Southern Mediterranean. He was recently assigned to head Green Destinations’ new regional office in Greece with the aim of assessing, training and certifying businesses and destinations in the region. Iyad studied tourism in Greece and Switzerland before training in Sustainable Tourism with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). With tourism being one of the region’s most important economic pillars, Iyad is embracing the challenge of greening the sector in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the sustainability criteria set out by Green Destinations.
