// CULTURAL HERITAGE
It is an expression of the way of living developed by a community and passed on, from generation to generation, including customs, practices, places, objects, artistic expressions and values. Cultural Heritage is often expressed as either Intangible or Tangible. Cultural Heritage produces tangible representations of the value systems, beliefs, traditions and lifestyles. Intangible heritage includes voices, values, traditions, oral history. Circle the Med concentrates on similarities, instead of differences.
Culture has long been recognized as an essential element of mutual understanding between people and is necessary for defining mutual perceptions in the Mediterranean region.
The Mediterranean has been analyzed as a sea that both unites and divides. What remains from the idea of a shared Mediterranean culture is mostly related to ancient cultural heritage. The scope of cultural heritage management is widening and it is expected that will contribute to sustainable development.
Those living and working around the Mediterranean are adjusting to new assumptions, new methods, new purposes, and new partners.
People recognize that traditions of culture and civilization throughout the Mediterranean region, dialogue between these cultures and the exchanges at human, scientific and technological level, are an essential factor in bringing them closer and promoting understanding between them.
