National Cultural Heritage Expert in the European Commission

Experienced Cultural Heritage Expert with a demonstrated expertise of working in the cultural heritage sector. Led an EU Member States working group on Sustainable Cultural Tourism. Has an active interest in climate change and cultural heritage.

Anne joined the EU Commission in May 2016 as a seconded national expert in the Cultural Policy Unit of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture. Before joining the Commission, she was a senior manager with the National Museum of Ireland and was responsible for a number of areas including the development of a wide range of policies and guidelines. She was also a member of the Member States Expert Group on Digitisation and Digital Preservation. In her earlier career working with the Ministry responsible for culture and heritage, she developed policy and legislation in respect of the national cultural institutions and was instrumental in establishing a Heritage Fund on a statutory basis. As Education and Marketing Officer for Dúchas the Heritage Service, Anne was a member of both the UK and USA Overseas Tourism Marketing Initiative WorkingA Groups.

Anne has qualifications in EU Affairs, Event Planning, Marketing and PR, Museums, Financial Planning, Cultural Heritage, Policy Development and Corporate Governance. Professional qualifications from University College of Dublin, Boston College, and NUI Galway
