Dr. Rebekah Shirley is an environmental research professional with over fifteen years of international experience leading research in clean energy technologies. As the Director of Research, Data & Innovation at the World Resources Institute Africa, Rebekah strengthens local research capacities and helps to mobilize inclusive, sustainable solutions for resource management by creating widespread access to critical data and insights. Her emphasis is in power systems modeling to support clean energy transitions in emerging economies. Having lived and worked across East Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Rebekah also enjoys exploring the role of society and culture in solutions for sustainability. Rebekah is passionate about climate justice, science communication, and student mentoring.
